Isatou Auber Booted Out Of The State House

President Adama Barrow has relieved Isatou Auber Faal of her Cabinet Secretary job and redeployed the long-serving presidential aide to Foreign Service, sources confirmed.

Mr. Barrow has not stated to which mission Ms. Auber Faal will be serving and in what capacity. Auber Faal is one of the president’s aides, who have been implicated in the financial probe involving former President Yahya Jammeh.

“She [Isatou Auber Faal] will be replaced by Ebrima Ceesay, a permanent secretary at the president’s executive office. Auber held the same position before becoming cabinet secretary,” said a source.

According to witnesses at a Commission probing the financial activities of Jammeh, Auber Faal had signed several checks withdrawing money for the ex-leader without following financial regulations.

Mr. Barrow’s Chief of Protocol, Alhagie Ousman Ceesay has also been implicated, collecting money for Jammeh from the Central Bank, a routine he says is part of his duties.

According to bankers from three commercial banks and the Central Bank of The Gambia, Alhagie Ceesay collected more than $10 million in cash for Mr. Jammeh.

Jammeh and his aides withdrew tens of millions of government accounts, some of which were off the record in commercial banks disregarding government financial guidelines.

Barrow has said he will not be wrongfully terminating anyone in the civil service, pending the outcome of the Commission of Inquiry report into Jammeh’s financial dealings.
