Cheikh Sidy Moctar Mbacké, the 7th Khalif General of Touba in Senegal, has passed away yesterday. Touba is the home town of the religious leader Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Mbacké widely known as Serign Touba .
The late Khalif was a grandson to Serign Touba and died at the age of 92. He became Khalif General in June 2010 when he was at the age of 85. He succeeded the late Serigne Muhammadou Lamine Barra Mbacke and ruled for 7 years and 7 months.
He was laid to rest yesterday in Touba.
The Senegalese president Macky Sall has joined thousands of muslims from the Senegambia sub-region to attend the ceremony.
