As part of the first engagement of her official visit to Norway, Dr. Isatou Touray, minister of Trade, Regional Integration and Employment, accompanied by a high-powered delegation including the Permanent Secretary of her Ministry, Naffie Barry; the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum, Momodou O. Njie ; Mrs Maimuna Sey, a gender activist and others, yesterday held a conference dubbed "Raising a child in Norway in a Polygamous home".
Scores of Gambians, activists and investors attended the conference.
Dr Touray who is currently on a tour of Norway upon her invitation by the Inter African Committee (IAC) in Norway, is meeting with some Investors and they are discussing possible ways of investing heavily into the socio-economic development of the Gambia.
Upon arrival yesterday, Dr Touray and her delegation were warmly welcomed and the IAC conference was held. During this conference, important issues such as the theme of discussion "raising a child in a Polygamous home in Norway" were discussed and various speeches were made.
The Mayor of Oslo, Marianne Borgen; Mrs Maimuna Sey, a gender activist and Imam Ebrima Touray, all spoke at length on the theme of discussion and wide range issues of the girl child and polygamous families.
Mr. Kace, an artist also read a very important poem talking about the theme of discussion.
The Trade minister Dr Touray is also expected to meet with officials of the Gambia House project and investors and plans are on the way to execute a lot of projects in many social and economic aspects of the Gambia.
Dr Touray and delegation are expected to meet with the Gambians in the Diaspora especially those in Norway tomorrow 13.11.2017.
