Dr Ismaila Ceesay released

Dr Ismaila Ceesay, a Political Science lecturer at the University of The Gambia has been released unconditionally by the Gambia Police Force after spending a night at the police headquarters in Banjul. 
Dr Ceesay was invited for questioning yesterday at the police headquarters. His questioning and subsequent detention is in connection with an interview he had with The Voice newspaper which was published yesterday, January 31st, 2018. 
He was reported to have said: "ECOMIG won't prevent long-term security risks if…". In this interview, Dr Cessay talked about the presence of the ECOMIG forces in the country and the relationship between President Barrow and the Gambia Armed Forces, etc. 
Since his arrest, Gambians all over, both at home and abroad condemned it, saying the arrest is a miscalculation from the government, as he is entitled to express his views or opinion freely. 
The president of the Republic, HE Adama Barrow was informed and he ordered for his immediate release unconditionally.
