Helping Gambian Children Foundation (HGCF), a Holland-based charitable organisation on Sunday donated medial items to Njongon community clinic in Lower Niumi District, North Bank Region, worth D30,000.
Making the presentation, the HGCF Gambia president, Abdoulie Bah, said their aim is to do more for the clinic, adding that from now on they intend to support the clinic with medical items every two months. He added that they wanted to do more but because of the coronavirus pandemic, they were only able to get those few items.
Bah further said that after the pandemic they intend to help in the expansion and development of the clinic. He however thanked the community for their cooperation, unity and efforts towards the development of the clinic.
Receiving the donation, a member of the Njongon community, Momodou Lamin Joof, said the medical items will not only benefit Njongon but surrounding communities as well. He assured the donors that the items will be used for the purpose they were meant for.
Joof also thanked the youths of the community, both at home and the diaspora for their commitment and assistance.
The project coordinator for the village, Sulayman Joof, expressed delight with the assistance and therefore thanked the donors for their generosity. He told donors that they had exceeded their expectations. He also hailed the community for taking ownership of the clinic.
Speaking on behalf of the women of the community, Isatou Sarr thanked HGCF and also urged the community to maintain the unity among them.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the clinic, Tumbul K. Manneh, Community Health Nurse (CHN)/Midwife described the items as life-saving and advised the community to make best use of them.
