The former Secretary General of the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) Abdoulie Jallow has been nominated as a member of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) which is a member of the Legislation and Governance Commission.

“I am happy and honoured to have been appointed by ANOCA to serve in such a prestigious committee with highly experienced personalities,” Jallow said after receiving his letter dated 14th December 2021 and signed by both ANOCA president and secretary general.

“In working to enhancing Good Governance in the sporting landscape in the continent, the Gambia stands to be the biggest beneficiary tapping from my expertise and the experience gained from my colleagues to identify opportunities that would create structures to promote sports,” he added.

He further said that: “Even before this appointment my working relationship with the current board in this short time has been exceptional.”

“In fact, one of my assignments for them is to work on a Governance framework for the GNOC and it stakeholders. My role in this Commission can only enhance this assignment and others,” Jallow also said.

“However, the commission’s work is for all member National Olympic Committees but the GNOC will have me on the ground if needed for guidance and support,” he said further.

He thanked the president and secretary general of ANOCA for the confidence they have in him to serve in the commission. He said his nomination shows the Gambia is making positive strides in making its ways in sports administration within the continent.
