Gambia: Boy 16, Electrocuted To Death

A 16-year-old boy who was suspected to have been trying to steal overhead copper cable from an electric room at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Wednesday night, got himself electrocuted to death.
The 16-year-old boy was found death on Thursday morning in the electric room which powers streetlights on the highway. The boy was said to have climbed the over the fence of the electricity house on which the transformer is installed at a time that there was a power cut in the area. He was in the process of loosening the electrical cable when power was restored, causing him to be electrocuted.
The dead body of the teenager was found lying beside his tools (spanners and cutters) that he was using to remove the cables. 
Deputy police PRO ASP Foday Conta said, the body of the boy have since been removed from the site and was sent to the mortuary at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) in Banjul for post-mortem to be conducted. 
"Our investigation further revealed that the deceased was not alone in this act, but he was  together with some of his friends one of whom had sustained injuries on his legs probably during operation. The said suspect was rushed to Serekunda General Hospital and the police investigation has concluded that he was also part of the operations."
Almost all his friends who took part in the operation are all at large but one is helping the police in their investigation.
