Gambia Soon To Receive New COVID-19 Vaccine – MOH

The Director of Health Promotion, Mr. Modou Njai has revealed that the government of the Gambia through the Ministry of Health would soon introduce the new COVID-19 vaccination.  

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday at the National Drug store in Kotu, Njai said his ministry will soon start introducing the new vaccine.

“We are about to introduce the new COVID-19 vaccine across the country. As soon as we receive the vaccine, tested and approved by the World Health Organisations (WHO) we will start using it. As to how the vaccine is going to be distributed;  when it is available we will let you know;” he stated.

Njai said it is high time that Gambians started to take the virus with seriousness.

“We need to come out aggressively because the the virus is is rapidly increasing. We want to see the Gambia ‘free of COVID-19,” Njai remarked.

He said the Gambia has been classified by WHO as one of the best countries in terms of managing the pandemic.

“Be rest assured that these vaccines are going to be tested by WHO and if safe and satisfactory they will be used and utilised safely,” he concluded.
