Former agriculture minister Omar Amadou Jallow has finally carried out his threat to sue popular Gambian media outlet, Kerr Fatou whom he accused of tarnishing his image with a report which alleged he connived with a businessman to illegally sell fertilizer meant for disposal.
Mr Jallow has since denied any wrongdoing and vowed to sue the medium to clear his name.
Confirming this development to The Standard, OJ said the case was filed on his behalf by his lawyer Badou Conteh.
“Yes, my lawyer has filed a court case against the Kerr Fatou and we are waiting for the court to give us a date. As I said in my press conference, I want Kerr Fatou to tell me how I connived with a Gambian businessman to sell tonnes of expired fertilizer in Senegal for financial reasons and I also want them to show me where I signed the said deal,” he told The Standard on telephone.
Mr Jallow, who was last week sacked from cabinet, did not give any further details, saying the rest will follow in court.
Meanwhile The Standard contacted Kerr Fatou boss, Fatou Touray who said they have not got anything on their table about that matter.
“I have not been served with any summon or court matter as I speak to you,” she told The Standard last night.
