Mai Ahmad Fatty, an aspirant presidential candidate and leader of Gambia Moral Congress (GMC) on Saturday reacted to the decision of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) for rejecting his nomination for the December 4th elections.

“I am disappointed with the IEC rejection and I am going to file an appeal against the decision,” Fatty said.

Mr Fatty, who has over 10 years experience in politics was one of the several known political leaders who failed the nomination process for the elections.

He said: “I am disappointed that the IEC claimed the reason for not accepting my nomination was because we did not have the required number of 200 voters to nominate us from Banjul. This is inaccurate,” he said.

“We filed way in excess of that number with the IEC. The process is not yet over. I will file an immediate appeal against this wrongful decision, and I am convinced that the improper decision would be reversed.”

“I call on all GMC and other supporters to remain calm as we tackle this issue. Our faith is being tested and we cannot fail,” Fatty said.
