Officers of the Police Intervention Unit last week Thursday arrested a man suspected of carrying a gun at Djembe Beach Hotel, where an inquiry is underway into the financial dealings of former President Yahya Jammeh and close associates, The Standard has been reliably informed.
Sources close to the commission revealed that the suspect entered the hotel with a bag while the proceeding was ongoing and was interrogated by the officers who found a gun in his bag.
The suspect, according to our source was interrogated by the officers who searched his bag and found him in possession of a gun. He was then arrested and handed over to the police station within Kanifing where he is currently being held helping the police in their investigations.
Police Spokesman Superintendent David Kujabi confirmed the arrest stating that the man is not a service person and investigations are still ongoing.
