Dr. Tamair Mbowe, the former Director General of Yahya Jammeh’s Presidential Alternative Treatment Program (PATP) has told the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparation Commission (TRRC) that he feared no professor in the area of surgical operation.
“I am not a professor in surgical operation but I don’t fear no other professor in that area,” Dr Mbowe stated.
In early 2007, the former President Yahya Jammeh declared to have a cure for people living with HIV/AIDS base on herbal treatment resulting to the enrolment of hundreds of people testing positive for the virus.
Mbowe 56, as the former Minister of Health and was the Director of former President Jammeh’s Presidential Alternative Treatment Program (PATP). He was Jammeh’s right hand in his Hiv/AIDS ‘cure’ discovery until he was fired in November 12.
“How was the virus eradicated,” quizzed lead Counsel Essa M. Faal.
“Uptil now myself wouldn’t know because I don’t know the type of herbs he was using,” Dr Mbowe replied.
“My point is that wouldn’t it be dangerous to give someone a medicine without knowing the side effects and the implications they cause to the person;” stated lead Counsel Essa M. Faal.
Mbowe argued that traditional medicine cannot examine what conventional medicine would do to a person.
