GAMBIA- As part of his reform of The Gambia Armed Forces, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Massanneh Kinteh has effected some changes in the army hierarchy and replaced all the camp commanders across the country.
According to my military sources, all former commanders are to report to Defence Headquarters on the 17th July 2017. In the meantime, they are busy handing over to their colleagues who will replace them.
Col. Essa Tamba the commander of Fajara Barack, is now replaced by Lt Col Yerro Jallow to be assisted by Major Seedia Danso.
Col. Sait Njie, commander of Yundum Barack, is now replaced by Lt Col Babucarr sanyang to be assisted by Major Abdoulie Manneh.
Col. Salifu Bojang commander of Farafenni Barack, is now replaced by Lt Col Samba Baldeh to be assisted by Major Ebrima Krubally.
Basse camp is now upgraded to a battalion status. Lt Col Pierre Mendy is the new commander to be assisted by Major Boto Touray
Kanilai camp is also upgraded to a battalion status. Lt Col Sarjo Jarju is the new commander to be assisted by Major Wassa Camara.
The chief intelligent officer of the army is also changed but my sources doesn’t know his replacement. As soon as we get information on that we will publish it.
NB: let it be clear, as far as we know, none of the former commanders are dismissed from the army. It’s our guess that they will all be redeployed within the army or given other responsibilities.
