Police have arrested one Modou Touray, a man in his late 30’s who allegedly injected an 18 year girl and raped her at Brikama in the West Coast Region.
Sources revealed that the girl was diagnosed with tetanus and went to the culprit for treatment who allegedly injected her with glucose vaccine and raped her after becoming unconscious. The alleged rapist is said to be a nurse at Brikama General Health Centre which was disputed by Lamin Sanyang, the Officer in Charge (OIC) of the said Health Centre.
“Yes I can confirmed the rape case involving one Modou Touray who is currently detained at Brikama Gidda Police Station but he is not a nurse neither a staff of this Hospital. He was an ex police (PIU) officer. He told me that he had injected the girl with a glucose which is not even proper for tetanus as it is sugary,” said OIC Sanyang.
ASP Lamin Njie, the Police Spokesman has also confirmed the report when contacted on telephone. He told this reporter that the culprit has been apprehended and is currently helping the Police in their investigations.
“Yes I can confirm to you that an alleged rape case involving one Modou Touray who rape an 18 year old girl at Brikama is currently with the Brikama Police helping them in their investigations,” ASP Njie told MAMOS Media.
The Police Spokesman said he cannot confirm wether the accused was a police officer as investigators are currently working with him in their investigations.
