GAMBIA – Executive members of the National Youth Council (NYC) today paid a courtesy on the Minister of Works, Bai Lamin Jobe at his office in Kanifing. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss over issues affecting youth in the areas of employment opportunities, intensive labour work and the engagement of young people in the national infrastructure and planning needs of the country.
The executive members also discussed with the Works Minister, the limited number of youth centers across the country which can be used by the youths to play indoor games, skills acquisition, library services and guidance and counseling services.
They also raised concerns about the youths who are the major victims of road accidents, whilst calling for them to be included in the Ministry’s annual road safety week sensitisation programmes.
On his part, Hon. Bai Lamin Jobe, the Works and Infrastructure minister welcomed the NYC and applauded them for this laudable initiative. The Works minister said their doors are always open to the youth fraternity and his Ministry is more than willing to partner and work with the youths of the country especially in the areas of youth center recreation and road safety.
