Leader of the opposition GDC party, Mama Kandeh has made a donation of 220 bags of rice to the disaster victims in Kuntaur, Niani District, Central River Region. He also gave an amount of D30, 000 to the students of the area whose books were all destroyed by the heavy rains.
Floods had hit Kuntaur recently and caused damages to a lot of residents in the area. Kandeh’s donation is timely as the victims are in dire need of support since they got affected by the flood.
It would recalled that the GDC leader also embarked on a surprise work on the drainage system in Banjul last week, in an attempt to reduce flood and stagnant waters in the country’s capital city.
He also participated in the rehabilitation work that was going on shortly before the Muslim feast of Tobaski at the King Fahad Mosque in Banjul.
National Youth Mobiliser of GDC, MC Cham Jnr told Mamos Tv that Kandeh’s gesture is worth emulating by all parties and the Coalition government under President Barrow.
He described his party’s leader as a man of pragmatic personality whose main objective is to empower the ordinary Gambians.
