Yesterday the 15th of August 2020, Police in Sibanor Division were conducting routine patrols, sensitising people and enforcing the Public Health (Dangerous and Infectious Disease) Protection Regulations 2020.

During the patrols, they came across a group of boys sitting under a tree outside at Jalo Koto Village in Foni WCR. They were all not wearing facemask thereby violating the Compulsory Facemask Wearing Regulation 2020.

The Officers approached the youths with a view to sensitise them on the Covid-19 Regulations but the aggressive youths armed with sticks turned violent.

Officers then called for reinforcement resulting to the arrest of three individuals who were processed and later granted bail. A cutlass was also recovered from someone at the scene.

The Inspector General’s Office calls on the public to continue supporting and cooperating with the security in stopping, containing and preventing the further spread of the Corona virus in the Gambia.
