Sheikh Ustass Essa Darboe, a renowned Gambian Islamic scholar and the head of Tadamun Islamic Institute has been elected as the president of the Gambia Supreme Islamic Council.
Ustass Darboe, who is elected at the ongoing GSIC congress in Kanifing, will succeed the long term president Alh. Muhammad Lamin Touray.
The result of votes are as follows:

105 delegates from across the country voted during the election.
