Sabally Leadership Academy's (SLA) cultural choir has released its first single music clip dubbed 'Maisa'. The new single from the choir's upcoming album, is a plaintive tune concerning the plight of orphans.
Established by the former Presidential Affairs minister Momodou Sabally, the SLA Cultural Choir is part of the Sabally Leadership Academy, a foundation aimed at inspiring Gambian youth to contribute to both community and nation building.
The 13-member ensemble includes three drummers, singer-songwriters and a pianist. The pianist, Mariam Cham is the one who composed the song Maisa, and is also the lead singer in this track.
"The choir runs on Sabally Leadership Academy's ethos of cultural competence, engendered through dynamic and alluring renderings of our heritage to educate and inspire young people," says choir manager Jainaba Teeda Sarr.
