The U.S. Ambassador to The Gambia, Patricia Alsup has called on religious leaders to continue to preach peace and religious harmony in The Gambia.
Ambassador Alsup was speaking at her fourth and final regional Iftar dinner held at the Governor’s Office  in Brikama.
Ambassador Alsup was received at the dinner by the Chief Executive Officer of the Brikama Area Council, Mr. Mamsait Jallow. The Iftar was attended by representatives from The Gambia’s diverse religious communities.
“I urge you to use your Mosques and Churches as well as other platforms to preach these values. We cannot and must not spew religious hatred and bigotry. We must desist from making hateful speeches that have the potential to divide and harm our fragile peace. We must reach out to each other and continue to cultivate the culture of peaceful co-existence that The Gambia is known for,” she urged.
