Officials of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) on Monday toured Essau village in Lower Niumi District, North Bank Region ahead of plans to build a multi-purpose standard mini-stadium for the community.
“We are here to survey areas needed to build a standard mini stadium in which Essau is part of. We believe this has been something people within the area have been anticipating and Essau is part of areas mapped out for the construction of such a stadium”, said Bakary Y. Badjie, Minister of Youth and Sports, who added that the reason for the delay of the tour was on the side of the contractors.
Minister Badjie promised that construction of the mini-stadium will commence on Sunday 28 February 2021. He said the mini-stadium is expected to have an artificial turf, standard dressing rooms, a borehole, toilet facilities and track lanes, among others. He advised Essau sports enthusiasts to jealously take care of the stadium upon its completion.
Badjie however stated that his ministry was not only into sports but they are also into credit union and they do give credit to young entrepreneurs to boost their businesses,” he concluded.
